Homestead Homeschool

Home school, homeschooling, naked egg experiment, preschool, toddler activitiesWelcome to our Homestead Homeschool!

Homeschooling is the newest venture here at the Homestead but, really, kids are learning everyday no matter what you want to call it!  In addition to the normal farm tasks of feeding the animals, cooking and gardening (when the kiddos are learning animal care, measurement and a host of other things) we’re adding a slightly more formalized bit of learning to the daily-routine.

How we design curriculum!

We’ll be basing this year’s goals on kindergarten readiness as outlined in “The Educated Child: A Parent’s Guide From Preschool Through the Eighth Grade.”  If you want to homeschool your child and haven’t read it, we’d highly recommend it as a no-nonsense approach to figuring out exactly what it is you need to teach.

What we’re teaching!

Since our kiddos are all under 5, we’ll be focusing on letter and number recognition, awareness of the world around us, pre-reading and many other goals.  If you’d like to see them all, click here.

Not sure where to start for your own preschool homeschool?  Follow along with us on The Quill (our blog) as we post some of the useful printables, classroom materials, links and activities learning and growing together!
